Our partnerships involve a dog being placed with an individual living with ongoing mental health challenges. These partnerships promote independence, reduce isolation, and foster a sense of community. Clients attend weekly training sessions and receive ongoing virtual support, helping them build daily routines and strong, lasting bonds with their dogs. Assistance dogs will begin task training to support their person with deep pressure therapy, nightmare interruptions, medication reminders, mobility and much more.
Through a person-centred approach, each applicant undergoes thorough preparation to ensure the placement is right for them and their household. Prior to placement, home visits will take place and applicants will also have the chance to join our group classes to get a feel for the training and put practice into play.
